We encounter a variety of shapes, structures, patterns or even different types of living beings in our daily life. However, often we do not question how those objects look or move and accept them as our surroundings without much thought. Within this week's discussion, as a class, we practiced giving meaning to our surroundings that we often overlook. And we did manage to actually find some sort of story behind these occurrences. Here is one image, one description and one audio recording that I have found a layered meaning behind:

The image is from a pillar of the Buchanan Building; it depicts a caricatured group of people rallying up, perhaps they're fighting for their rights. Even though, it is a piece of art that has themes of civil rights, it can be overlooked by a lot of people because of its cartoonish depiction.

I decided to make a description of the Buchanan Tower for the text entry. As I described, I found the Buchanan Tower to be very ugly and soulless-looking. It just looks like a giant concrete brick without any colour or patterns. I find its meaning to be very cold.

For the audio, I chose to take an audio note of the Stir Up Cafe inside the Buchanan Building. When you do not think about it, it just sounds like noise coming from a bunch of people. However, when I was recording the note, I realized that each one of these people was talking about a different thing. All of them have different beliefs and experiences that caused those beliefs; each voice carried a different story.
